There is a bushfire of approximately 45 Ha between Blessington Road and Sawpit Hill Rd on the northern side of Ballroom Hill.
Milder conditions have allowed fire crews to maintain fire within containment lines and commence small scale back burning operations to further strengthen the boundaries and work on active edges.
These operations will continue till nightfall and resume in the morning.
Fire is contained on the southern and eastern boundaries.
TFS presence will be maintained until fire behaviour subsides later this evening, resuming again tomorrow.
The fire has now produced considerable smoke in the Blessington area which will affect road conditions well into the night. Drive according to conditions and with caution as there will be fire vehicles still moving in the area.
The temporary speed limit has been removed on Blessington Road however will be reinstated in the morning to increase safety for fire crews operating in this area.
Concerned residents should report any increased fire activity overnight directly to ‘000’
