Drug raids net 31 people on Gold Coast

A series of drug raids on the Gold Coast have ended with 31 arrests and the seizure of cannabis, methamphetamine and two rifles, as well as the bust of a small hydroponic operation.

Queensland police carried out nine search warrants in the Gold Coast suburbs of Pimpama, Coombabah, Runaway Bay, Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Heads, Southport, Varsity Lakes and Upper Coomera over the last week.

Senior Sergeant Mat Kelly says the 31 people arrested have been charged with 81 drug and weapons related charges.

"We are committed to removing harmful drugs from the Gold Coast community and we accomplish that through proactive policing and information from the public," Senior Sergeant Kelly said.

"Every drug, every weapon police seize contributes to the safety of our community."
