2017 Masters Games head to Tasmania

Mastersgames

In a coup for northwest Tasmania the 2017 Masters Games will be coming to the Cradle Coast.

Competitors in 60 sports come together for the biennial event - the next is on in Adelaide in October.

Now the state's tourism sector will welcome news at least three and a half thousand interstate and overseas athletes will flock to the coast in 2017, joining locals for the eight-day sportfest.

The breakthrough follows months of negotiations between the Cradle Coast Authority and the Confederation of Australian Sport.

Hobart was the last Tasmanian location to host the Masters in 1987.
