Ice war in Tas

The grip of the drug ice in regional Tasmania is in the cross hairs of the Federal Government which is funnelling $20 million into the problem nationally.

Its use in some of the state's regions is nearly 2 times higher than in Hobart.

Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt told WIN keeping those with an ice problem supported by local organisations is to receive special attention.

"Disproportionately higher in regional Australia, so that's why supporting Burnie and also supporting Rural Alive and Well in the Central Highlands is absolutely critical."
