West Coast phones fail

Tempers have frayed on Tasmania's West Coast over phone service failures across the Easter weekend.

Strahan's land-lines broke down on Thursday and it's claimed Telstra let the weekend pass before getting on to fixing the problems.

Murchison independent Upper House candidate Daryl Quilliam visited the town yesterday and found some businesses were trying to handle a busy weekend without Eftpos.

"I would have thought that they would have at least responded to see whether they had any chance of being able to fix it on the Thursday, I know that people were going on holidays, but surely a company as big as Telstra would have people available even on Good Friday to beable to fix problems."
