Tourism loan scheme

Tourism operators wanting to spruce up their offering can access Tasmanian government loans at below market interest rates.

A total of $20 million is in the scheme pool, and concessional loan amounts of between $50,000 and $1.5 million are available to established council approved accommodation businesses.

Although pleased by recent tourism growth across the state, Premier Hodgman wants to drive the figures even further.

"There has been significant increase in the number of visitors coming to our state and they're getting around, staying longer, spending more and visiting our regions, but we've got to make sure that not only do we provide the right attractions and a great visitor experience but they've also got great places to stay."
