An RSL club in the NSW Blue Mountains has been severely damaged by fire.
At least half of Katoomba RSL was alight shortly after flames erupted in the venue's roof about 1.30pm on Friday, Fire and Rescue NSW said.
It's not yet clear if any war memorabilia was destroyed but as the fire burned there were concerns live ammunition could be among the mementos, a spokesman told AAP.
Police were called for assistance and the area of concern was isolated as a precaution.
The fire was largely extinguished on Friday night but about 10 firefighters remained on scene to put out several small spot fires.
