Fire permits will not be granted for southern Tasmania as hot and windy conditions sweep over parts of the state.

With temperatures expected to reach more than 32C amid very high fire danger conditions on Tuesday, the Tasmania Fire Service has issued a ban on permits until at least midnight.

"We have not issued a total fire ban, however people must be extremely cautious with fire this week and avoid using fire in the open," Deputy Chief Officer Gavin Freeman, noting forecast ongoing hot weather.
