A diver’s depth of experience will be examined in his death at White Beach yesterday morning (Sunday) on the Tasman Peninsula.
The 38 year old man from Oyster Cove was in 15 metre waters with a friend looking for scallops.
Acting Inspector Justin Lawson explains the friend brought him to the surface through hooker equipment.

“Where compressed air is pumped down to the diver and that’s often connected to the diver so that you can retrieve someone if they are in trouble.”
It’s raising questions as to whether recreational controls are adequate as anybody can dive with no training or experience.
