Nine-year-old Ryan Kaji has become 2020’s highest-paid Youtuber, earning an impressive $29.5 million (almost $39 million in Australian dollars) this year according to Forbes.
Since the young Texan started his Youtube channel with the help of his parents in 2015, he’s gained almost 28 million subscribers and 44 billion views on his main channel, as well as also running eight other channels.
Ryan’s World started off as a simple toy review channel run by his mother Loann, and has now quickly evolved into a global kids play and entertainment brand with a 30-person team.
In his videos, Ryan and his family do fun things such as 'pretend play, science experiments, music videos, skits, challenges, DIY arts and crafts, and more.’ The videos star nine-year-old ‘Creative Director’ Ryan Kaji, President and dad Shion Kaji, Managing Partner and mum Loann Kaji, and his twin sisters and ‘Creative Directors’ Emma and Kate. The family have actually replaced their real surname Guan, with their on-screen surname Kaji.
The success of the brand lead to the Kaji family creating their own production company 'Sunlight Entertainment' in 2017 which develops family-friendly content to help kids learn. As well as his Youtube channel, the Kaji’s also made an estimated $200 million just from Ryan’s World toys and clothing. On top of this, he also recently starred in his own hybrid live-action and animated series 'Super Spy Ryan' on Amazon Kids+.
The Youtube star also holds the Guiness World Record for 'The most-watched YouTube channel for a “post-post-millennial” (i.e., someone born post-2010) in 2019.’
His most viewed video titled, "HUGE EGGS Surprise Toys Challenge with Inflatable water slide” has over 2 billion views.
