Game of Thrones prequel 'House of the Dragon' is officially in production and fans have been treated to a first look with official photos released by HBO.
The HBO original series is due to be released in 2022 and is set 300 years before the events of the original Game of Thrones series.
Fans will be familiar with 'The Mother of Dragons' herself, Daenerys Targaryen. The prequel will follow the story of her family, House Targaryen, 300 years before she became Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains.
HBO has announced the main cast with Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon aka “The Sea Snake,” Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, and Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole.
Photos of the cast on set have also been shared which gives us a look at the characters in action. They shared images of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen & Prince Daemon Targaryen, Alicent Hightower & Otto Hightower and The Sea Snake.

The exciting news comes as the original series celebrated its tenth anniversary this year.
