Despite reports that after 144 years the Royal Launceston Show is no more, it appears there is still hope the show will go on in the future.

Late yesterday afternoon, the Launceston City Council announced they will not be providing any further support to the show after an auditor’s report revealed it was not financially viable.

However it seems the Royal Launceston Show Society may have jumped the gun by believing this meant the end for the show.

Joining Fairsy this morning, Launceston Mayor Albert Van Zetten reveals the Council hasn’t ruled out discussing alternate options with the Show Society.

President of the Royal Launceston Show Society, Jock Gibson, speaks with Fairsy about the possibility of the show continuing.
