A call to arms…with supplies running low

Launceston residents are being urged to roll up their sleeves and potentially save a life.

There’s been a big drop in the number of blood donations with more than 200 needed in the next two weeks to boost dwindling supplies.

The Lifeblood donor centre currently has one of the lowest number of bookings in the state.

It comes as demand across Australia for blood and plasma is at its highest in 12 years.

The donor centre is at 54 Paterson Street. It is open six days a week, 11am to 6pm Monday; 7.30am to 6pm Tuesday to Thursday; 7.30am to 3pm Friday and Saturday
