More signs the accommodation industry in the state’s north is bouncing back after a rough winter period.
After some of the worst figures in close to a decade, occupancy figures released by the Tasmanian Hospitality Association shows numbers were up in October to 80.83 percent.
That figure is better than the state’s overall figure of just over 75 percent, which itself is up from under 68 percent in September.
The THA says the figures are promising for a strong summer ahead.
Association chief executive Steve Old said the October numbers point to the growing demand for Tasmania as a destination.
“This surge in occupancy is a testament to the resilience and hard work of our industry operators,” he said.
The state’s northwest saw a modest 1.02 per cent increase to 58.38 per cent. The east coast recorded a 64.3 percent occupancy rate.
