Launceston’s Isabel Perry has been named as the 2024 recipient of the City of Launceston’s Ariarne Titmus Swimming Scholarship.
The annual scholarship aims to help junior swimmers achieve future success.
It was implemented in 2022 following Titmus’s haul of four medals, including two gold, at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
It was presented to Launceston swimmer Abbie King last year.
The scholarship covers one year of standard swim club registration fees and one full year of membership at the City of Launceston Leisure and Aquatic Centre.
The successful recipient will also have their name included on a permanent shield displayed at
the aquatic centre.
Mayor Matthew Garwood said the 14-year-old South Esk Swimming Club member was one of Launceston’s most promising young swimmers.
“Isabel is a very worthy recipient of the Ariarne Titmus Swimming Scholarship, and knowing Arnie
personally and having spoken to her recently about Isabel, I can say she is incredibly proud of
Isabel’s achievements and potential and is proud to have their names tied together in this way, “
he said.
