The state government’s hoping to have the first intake of students at a new construction industry training facility at Carrick in just two years.
Work is underway at the $4.3 million dollar Earthworks Academy at Quercus Park.
Minister Felix Ellis says it will ensure the delivery of thousands of workers to get on and deliver future infrastructure projects.
“The Earthworks Academy will ensure we’re delivering the thousands of workers we need to get on and deliver our huge infrastructure agenda across the state,” Minister Ellis said.
“The Academy will not only support the multiple road upgrade projects across the state, but will play a critical role in supporting the construction of housing and Renewable Energy projects in the region.
“The Academy will be key in helping to address skill shortages in the sector, including for earthmoving plant operators, bulldozer operators, excavator operators, grader operators, loader and road roller operators, and truck drivers.”
