High approval of Tasmania's coronavirus response

Tasmanians are giving the thumbs up to the state's management of the pandemic.

Surveying by the University of Tasmania's Institute for Social Change finds 85% of those quizzed don't believe the state's economy has been hurt unnecessarily by the response to coronavirus.

71% don't think restrictions are lifting too slowly, while a quarter confess to not following social distancing some of the time.

As for border policy, 45% favour the state keeping the walls up until Australia is virus-free.

The Institute concludes there is substantial support for the state government’s handling of the pandemic.
