Eight-ball and darts will be allowed to resume in Tasmanian pubs and bars from the end of next week.
Director of Public Health Dr Mark Veitch says it is possible for the activities to resume in a safe way, given there is less need for mixing groups of people, but strict hygiene measures with equipment will need to be followed.
"It's quite an important passion for some people," he said at the Premier's coronavirus press briefing on Friday, following National Cabinet.
But Dr Veitch also reiterated it was still too risky to have people standing and drinking.
"There will be some consultation with the sector to ensure they understand their COVID-safe plans but I think for many people they'll be quite pleased with that announcement," Peter Gutwein said.
Many hospitality groups and owners have been calling for restrictions to be eased at venues given the state's long run without community transmission of COVID-19.
