There's speculation an early election could be called in Tasmania, as a new poll shows support for the Premier has skyrocketed amid the pandemic.
The state government now holds a commanding 30 point lead over Labor with 54 percent support, up from 43 percent in March.
That's according to the EMRS data which surveryed 1000 Tasmanians between the 18th and 24th of August.
Meanwhile Labor has gone from 34 percent in March to 28 percent in May and just 24 percent in August.
The Greens remained steady at 12 percent.
But the most stark difference is for the leaders; Peter Gutwein's popularity now at 70 percent compared to Opposition Leader Rebecca White at just 23 percent.
Back in March, he was actually slightly trailing the Labor leader.
It's expected to prompt leadership speculation among state ALP members, while the Liberals will consider ramming home their advantage by sending Tasmanians to the polling booths.
