Outspoken Hobart Alderman Marti Zucco says council's parking fees will drive shoppers to neighbouring cities unless there's a review.
After leading a successful campaign to have North Hobart's parking meters suspended, Alderman Zucco is focusing on the CBD and Salamanca where he says the pandemic has already hit hard.
He's pushing for council to think outside the box to reinvigorate trade.
"I've been advocating for a docket system that Victoria uses, insofar as once you've shopped, you take your docket to the pay booth and you get a massive discount or even free parking based on how much you've spent," he said.
"Hopefully on Monday night our elected members will support a report to review the carparking and also the use of delegated authority so the CEO can get onto actioning some things that could further assist our traders in the CBD."
