Another Tasmanian has died of Covid-19.

A man in his 90's has passed away in the south of the state, taking the toll to 70 since the pandemic began.

The news follows 782 new cases recorded overnight.

The numbers have dropped slightly from 962 yesterday and 967 the day before.

834 people have recovered and been released from isolation, the total number of active cases currently stands at 6,256.

599 people are being monitored under the [email protected] program.

There are currently 47 Covid-positive people in hospital and of these, 25 are being treated specifically for Covid related symptoms.

There is currently one person being cared for in the ICU.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff maintains that daily case numbers have stabilised.

"We continue to see some daily fluctuations, the seven-day average has been consistently around 1,000 cases per day since the start of May, which is an encouraging sign," Mr Rockliff said.
