Tasmanian author Heather Rose is on the shortlist for the Stella Prize.

Ms Rose's novel, 'The Museum of Modern Love' is one of six books in the running for the $50-thousand prize, with half of the longlist being eliminated today.

The book was last month also named on the longlist for the Australian Literary Society Medal.

The Stella Prize is awarded annually for the best work of literature, fiction or non-fiction, published by an Australian woman.

The winner will be announced on April 18th.
