Barmah Forest virus spreads

An update from Tasmania's Public Health on the Barmah Forest virus outbreak now puts the number of cases at five, with another two still being investigated.

It is the first time the virus spread by mozzies has been confirmed to have been contracted in this state.

The outbreak centres on the East Coast where the advice is to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.

Many people infected don't get sick, but symptoms can include joint and muscle pain and fever, which usually disappear in a few weeks.
