Initial investigations indicate black ice was a factor in a freak crash in northern Tasmania on Tuesday morning.
A van being driven on Frankford Road by a Legana man rolled, the 56-year-old surviving the initial impact and escaping the vehicle.
But afterwards he was tragically hit and killed by another car which lost control on the same corner.
That car was driven by a 19 year old male from Youngtown, who somehow survived his Madza rolling several times and colliding with the stationary van, escaping with only minor injuries.

It follows a number of minor smashes around the state caused by slick conditions, with the west coast one of the worst affected areas.
Animal Creek Road near Tullah saw several vehicles backed up, the conditions also causing the cancellation of the school bus run between Tullah and Rosebery.
Higher Hobart suburbs also had to deal with treacherous roads.
