Tasmania is in for an icy blast, with multiple weather systems carrying cold air from Antarctica approaching.
Temperatures will drop over the rest of the week, as the system brings some high winds and rain.
The Weather Bureau's Michael Conway says the peaks will receive a dusting of snow.
"We will see temperatures dip on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with snow falling to around 500 metres in the south," he said.
Up to 20mm of rain is forecast to fall around southern, western and eastern areas.
"Showers mainly will be around the Hobart area, including up the west coast, but also up as far as Swansea."
He says there will also be shower activity in the north of the state, but not as intense.
