Serial robber gaoled

SupcourtLaun

A northern Tasmanian man who's been robbing banks since he was a child will have to spend at least five-and-a-half years behind bars before the chance of parole for his latest heist.

Marcus Denis Mayne was under heavy guard during Monday's sentencing hearing in the Supreme Court in Launceston.

The court heard the 31-year-old threatened a customer with a knife and demanded money from the ANZ's Mowbray branch around two years ago.

The Crown dropped a dangerous criminal application which would have seen him locked up indefinitely.
