Greyhound exercise plan

A plan to allow greyhounds designated areas to run around will be debated by Hobart City Council on Monday night.

The motion is being moved by Councillor Holly Ewin, who points out there are 3000 adopted greyhounds in Tasmania which currently are not allowed off leash at all.

"It make sense to me that we allow these dogs the space to exercise because it is something their bodies need to do...it wouldn't take very much for us to identify an area they can safely use to exercise in."

Rehomed greyhounds no longer have to be muzzled in public if the dog has been cleared by the Greyhound Adoption Program, Brightside Farm Sanctuary or the Office of Racing Integrity.
