COLLINGWOOD big man Brody Grundy is facing a fortnight on the sidelines for a tackle that left North Melbourne big man Ben Brown hospitalised.
The Match Review Panel has offered Grundy a two-week suspensions if he enters an early guilty plea, assessing the incident as careless conduct with high impact to the head.
Geelong spearhead Tom Hawkins will also be missing for two weeks if he accepts the MRP’s offer after being cited for striking Sydney’s Dane Rampe.
The star forward would have only missed a week if not for a bad record. He served a one-week ban following a strike on Adelaide’s Matt Crouch in Round 11.
Hawkins’ teammate Mitch Duncan is facing a one-week holiday for striking Swan Tom Papley.
One-week suspensions were also offered to Greater Western Sydney big man Shane Mumford for striking Melbourne’s Max Gawn, and Essendon midfielder Zach Merrett for his punch to the stomach of Carlton’s Lachie Plowman.
Merrett’s Bombers teammate Joe Daniher can accept a $1000 fine for striking Blue Blaine Boekhorst, while wresting fines have been handed to Port Adelaide’s Jack Trengove ($2500) and Adelaide’s Josh Jenkins ($1000) from yesterday’s Showdown.
The match day report laid against St Kilda’s Luke Dunstan for tripping West Coast’s Jack Redden was withdrawn due to lack of force, while incidents involving Demon Jake Melksham and Giant Jacob Hopper, and Roo Benn Cunnington and Magpie Tyson Goldsack were looked at but didn’t require further action.
