Parents are being warned to key an eye on their children after NSW Police made a series of arrests related to sexual and physical abuse in the lead up to the 30th annual National Child Protection Week.

Officers from the NSW Police Child Abuse and Sex Crime Squad's Child Exploitation Internet Unit last week made three separate arrests involving online grooming offences across Sydney and the state's north.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott said young people were spending more time online during the coronavirus pandemic, putting them at risk of being targeted by predators.

"Police will always be committed to protecting kids from harm, but do not underestimate the impact you can have as a parent or carer by educating your children on how to stay safe," Mr Elliott said in a statement on Monday.

Since January, the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad has arrested more than 560 people and laid more than 2800 charges following investigations into child sexual assaults, serious physical abuse, extreme cases of neglect and online grooming.
