Thieves have made off with 20 camels from a property in central Queensland.

Police from the organised crime squad are on the hunt for the young females, who were taken from Theodore, southwest of Rockhampton, between August 18 and 25.

The 20 mammals, who are aged between one and three years old, are tan in colour but are not branded or marked.
