The organisers of the Royal Launceston Show say strong crowd numbers at the 2018 event have given them confidence the show will be staged again next year. The society's president Jock Gibson was pleased with the number of people he saw as he wandered the showgrounds at UTAS. Jock told Fairsy from Fairsy's Big Breakfast today that numbers exceeded expectation. Jock said that Crowds streamed steadily through the Launceston Showground gates from when they opened at 9am until after the fireworks at 9pm.
Dave Smith, of Punchbowl, has been attending Royal Launceston Show for about 20 years and said that his year was excellent. Mr Smith said that he used to attend Launceston Show with his Granddad, and now brings his family.
As for me, I found the day to be wonderful. It was a cool start for the Show Day public Holiday, but the day soon warmed up. Royal Launceston Show Society took a gamble by reducing the three day event to one day, but I believe the gamble paid off and I can't wait for the 2019 show.
