THE MAN WALK LAUNCESTON
Thu 16 Sep 2021 06:00 am to Thu 16 Dec 2021 06:00 am
My name is Tim Crawshaw and I'm the "manbassador" for THE MAN WALK LAUNCESTON starting on Thursdays at 6am at the Cataract Gorge for about an hour.
With MAN WALKS RUNNING ALL AROUND AUSTRALIA, it is wonderful that Launceston can now be involved.
THE MAN WALK is a simple concept designed to strengthen communities, build social capital and combat isolation by connecting men to walk, talk and support.
The Man Walk provides an opportunity for men to get together and walk and talk in a positive and inclusive environment. There is no judgement, pressure or expectations. Just turn up when you feel like it, walk with a group of like-minded blokes, and be a part of our community.
MAN WALK LAUNCESTON will kick off on Thursday the 16th September and continue on Thursdays at 6am weekly.
Walkers will meet at the northern entrance of Launceston Cataract Gorge next to Kings Bridge at 6am at the old booth. Walkers will follow the path up to the first basin and cross through the first basin over the flood path (or during flooding over the Alexandra Suspension bridge) returning over the southern side of the South Esk River via the Zig Zag track (several steps uphill and downhill) to Kings Bridge. For men wanting to avoid the stairs they can return back the initial route to meet up with the group at the end.
The walk will not go ahead during rain. In the event that rain is scheduled the group will meet for coffee instead at McDonalds in Invermay. This will be posted in advance the night before.
To join up to the group see here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2337097969951477 (It is not mandatory to join up to participate).
