Launceston Night Market
Where: Yorktown Square, Launceston
When: Friday, 7th December at 5:00pm to 9:00pm.
Details: Inspired by night markets from around the world, the renamed ‘Launceston Night Market’ will look to transform Yorktown Square this summer. Bringing together creative people from Launceston’s food, music and beverage sectors our market will celebrate our community and showcase many wonderful local producers. As locals, we appreciate that during the summer months, we are looking for outdoor events to enjoy the weather. Not to mention the opportunity to enjoy a glass of your favourite local cider or wine with something delicious to eat on a Friday night. The French refer to it as an “apero” (after work drink) with friends, family and colleagues. At our night market the emphasis is more on "night" than “market”. Listen to some great music, grab a bite to eat with your friends and family. It’s the place where you appreciate where you live and you feel part of a wonderful community. Wouldn’t this be the best way to start the weekend?

One Day 15

Details: The challenge is to write, cast, rehearse and perform seven new plays in 24 adrenalin filled hours.
Here's how it works: eight writers, eight directors, and a group of actors, plus production staff, assemble at the Earl Arts Centre on Friday December 7 at 6.30 pm. You are welcome to come along too!
We assign the writers with directors and casts and provide them with stimuli, not to help them stay awake, but to inform the creative process. This might be an object, a metaphor or something random that they need to weave into the script. This will be revealed on the night.
Writers then get writing, while directors and cast sleep anxiously awaiting an early start and the prospect of an unknown new script that must be rehearsed ready for an 8.00 pm show on Saturday 8 December.
It is a daunting challenge, and a white-knuckle ride, but we haven't failed yet!
